Garus is Vultan's second-in-command among the Hawk Men. In Ascension, Garus accompanies Vultan on his trip to Earth to reclaim T.J., his missing son.

In Secrets and Lies, Garus is taken captive by the Zurn as an intended sacrifice for their god. Flash Gordon and Dr. Hans Zarkov manage to rescue him before he can be killed.
