The Birdmen are a race that inhabits a cliff-village on Mongo's Lost Continent.They are a part of a far larger confederacy of multiple tribes or races who are of different skin-tones and humanoid appearances but themselves appear as slim humanoid aliens with pointy ears, european complexion and black points or dots on their skin.They are named for the great birds they ride and fly into battle.

A much different race, Stang's Birdmen, inhabits the Human forest of Vendura.

In the 1996 Flash Gordon animated series the character Talon is called a "Birdman" although he obviously is intended as a member of the Hawk Men of Sky City and none of Mongo's other Birdman races.
